1st air gun, copper, 160 psi, boom.

1/2" Copper with PC Metal epoxy making up molded areas. Spring-loaded quick release valve. Scuffed up black paint with fake leather over the grip.
Using a Lezyne Sport bike pump which takes it to 160-180 psi. Schrader valve on pump screws on for nice seal.
Eagle Claw brand, non-lead, egg sinkers for fishing fit snug.

Love it, especially the valve setup. It deserves more pressure though, and better thought out projectiles.

if u ever make a mk2 this could be an idea have several 4.5mm id tubes in there each firing 2 4.5mm bbs and may be make it break barrel loaded it will be one hell of a pistol shotgun and stick to simple valves and try to keep the chamber to barrel volumes 1:1 or even better have the chamber volume a bit bigger than barrel gives you more power

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'd like to make a future gun with breech loading, pistons, but I'm kind of lost when it comes to these mechanics.
@hawktalk: 1:1 or bigger, good tip thanks. The grip is sculpted Bondo and PC metal epoxy over the 1/2" copper to valve. Then I used some fake leather and stretched/glued it down. Kind of a steampunk feel.
@jackssmirkingrevenge: Higher pressures, yes! I would be concerned with the QR, though... At 160 psi, I hear this *click* from the QR and see the arm/bolt pop out a mm or so. Could that blow out at higher pressures?
I'd love to take it up to 300 psi, but beyond the bike pump, I'm not sure what would be next? I don't have a compressor. I did like that DIY arm pump you linked me too once... hmm.

If you don't want to DIY (though personally it seems like you have to skills) you can get track pumps that go up to 260 for less than $100:

The quick release is unlikely to come off but you might want to include a bleed valve in the line to relieve pressure and make it easier to remove.

How much psi do you think this pistol could safely take? It's all soldered copper parts.

If you're confident in your soldering, I would have no problem trusting it to 500 psi.

Not a huge stroke volume though, if you intend to take it to 600 psi it will take you about 7 hours and by the end of it you will be spent and have biceps the size of Bournemouth.

It's small compared to a 2 inch cannon, but it's big relative to say a pen gun which is the sort of thing shock pumps are useful for.

Well, may have jumped the gun on buying this pump (pun alert!)
I'll let you guys know the results once I get a chance to try 'er. I definitely won't be going for 600, but we'll see how big the biceps get going for 400.

You can take it to 160 with your normal pump first to save some effort...
