.177 QEV+Slide Valve

New QEV+Slide Valve combo, I was wondering, I removed the pin valve from the tank and I noticed that the threads inside the bottle were really close to 3/8 NPT, however, after about 3 turns the 3/8 nipple wouldn't screw in anymore. I looked around and read that the thread was like 5/8-18 UNF, but since the 3/8 nipple can go in a few turns, is it safe to force it in there further? I'm asking because I want to remove the 1/2'' coupling and go with 1/4''-->3/8''-->Tank.

It would probably be safe to epoxy the two fittings together, if you aren't planning to take them apart.

i got myself kind of same problem with a propane tank. It finaly blew off from the brassing....like a rocket !
So i made 3 holes with the drill trough the brassing and not all trough the tank's head....than i had found 3 screws that fits well in the holes i made and screw them in,,,,some epoxy involved will make it stay there.
sorry for my english :albino:
the barrel is a "barrel" ? or a pipe ? some shooting tests.. ?

Nope, the barrel isn't an actual barrel, it's a breakline, it's only temporary though because its the wrong size, .5mm too small for .177 =[, I did however, order a stainless steel tube off amazon which the I.D is suppose to be .18'', waiting for that to come in. And then I'll find a way to mount the scope and start shooting. This is a link to the tubes, relatively cheap and comes in a load of sizes

That looks suberb, I will be chuffed if mine looks half as good, I am going for a very similar setup to yours, only think I would. Change is the blue of the slide valve, but that's just how most are.
What did you use for the 'T' is it just a plumbing fitting? Also how did you attach the Schrader filler to there's piece, what parts did you use for both, currently I was just going to solder a derubber valve casing into some kind of brass fitting and go from there, but it won't be as tidy as your set up.
I don't think, or have not seen nice threaded 90° brass pieces like you have used, just googled and they seem to be a US style in NPT thread, ohwell!!

@Ianbuckwell The T is a 1/4'' T, all fittings are 1/4'' NPT (including the schrader valve), I got all the fittings from Home Depot (except the schrader valve). Here's the link to the schrader
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HE ... UTF8&psc=1 hope that helps out.

ahh stupid scope not working >=[, it's too high for the barrel and I cant zero it in at 50 feet, but it was just at the perfect height where I'd just lay my cheek on the tank. Have idea for new mount, should work better... hopefully =/

you should use a "Y" or a 110 degree adapter/fitting that allow you to "bend" the tank a little down so you will be allowed to mount the scope on the barrel ....... and it will look nice........
Pretty good barrel you got there...you should have very good grouping like 50 m or more ,............

50m sounds like a long shot, 20'' barrel at ~130 psi?

i shoot to 25 m with a plastic bb. Steel bb or pellets go much further....but not with the scope you got now...
130 psi is a litts low, 300-400 would do fine !
