I just got back into spud guns and have questions about propane. Is it okay to use in guns? And if so what is the easiest way to use it. The gun I would use it on has a 4" diameter chamber 40" inches long with a 10 foot barrel. I want to make it easier to shoot then having to mess with hairspray. Thanks

Yes, Propane is actually recommended for combustion guns.
edit: The best way to use propane in your gun would be to construct a meter to ensure consistent shots. Check out the how to section for tips in building your own

search for advanced combustion and fuel meter.
A storehouse of info on the subject is a simple search away.

Short answer. Yes it works fine.
