im making a pneumatic cannon, first one by the way, and i was wondering how much pressure a 1'' sprinkler valve is capable of holding. i've used all steel pipe and fittings, (thanks mcmaster-carr) which are rated to 3000 psi, so im not worried about that part. the only part of the gun which holds pressure that im not sure about is the valve.
by the way, i dont have the sprinkler valve right now. im using a 1'' ball valve which is temporary until the sprinkler valve gets here. i had to order it from the home depot website because they dont stock them in the store. you know, just in case someone tells me that its in big letters on the side of the box or something.
thanks

Most sprinkler valves I've seen are rated for up to 10 bar or 150 psi, which is what your average compressor can generate so no worries there.

use pvc for anything below 150 psi...use ur metal fittings and convert them into an over under piston cannon...run it with a small chamber yet 250-300 psi from a pump (bike or stirrup) but since this is your first pneumatic i wouldnt recomend making a piston gun for ur second....iknow alot about pistons but im not making one yet and when i do make my first piston it will be a coaxial....
btw im on my 6th pneumatic and making plans for a seventh that is going to shoot potatoes....surprisingly we all call them potato guns but this is actually the first *pneumatic* potato gun i have made
