I made this one out of an old fire extinguisher, a 2 by 4 and some electrical pipe. This is as simple as it gets for using a fire extinguisher as a chamber.

Since I didn't have the right tools to weld I decided to leave the valve on the fire extinguisher and use the gauge built into it. The flexible hose you see attached to the extinguisher is a... well I don't know what it is but I forced it into the extinguisher, no leaks even without plumbers tape. The barrel is electrical pipe, its not pressure rated but I have done tests on it to 150psi and it still holds strong.

To fill it, I detach the quick connect fitting and attach it to a DIY tire valve on a hose, then I pull the trigger on the extinguisher till it reaches 120psi.

To load I pull the blue hose out of the barrel a bit so I can load marbles or grapes through the breech, then shove the hose back in.

To fire I detach it from the filling thingy and connect it back to the other thingy. Then squeeze the trigger while pressing your thumb down on the breech to stop the hose from flying out.

Its not super powerful, the fire extinguisher has pretty useless flow but if you get the right sized grape, it will splat it against the fence on the other end of my yard with reasonable force.

This gun is another good reason why you should never take good parts to the tip.

lol, i like the breech. does the FE valve hold pressure? mine always had a slight leak so i trashed it. I also like your fill valve that doubles as how you conect the barrel. i guess that when you dont have much you have to bee creative. very nice.

No my FE doesnt leak at all and yes I do have a tip. Buy one of the FE's that have a black hose coming out of the nozzle that is used to aim the powder stuff. That way you can stick a hose barb of whatever size you want into it, its much easier than trying to find the right threads. If I wanted a really awesome gun I would not use a FE as the main chamber, I would probably use it to fill a smaller chamber because it is hard to get a good flow from one.

A scrap cannon, attached to a plank of wood! Classic. Would this cannon constitute as ghetto?
Well if there was an "Out of the A** Award", I would definatly vote for him. Maybe I'll come up with something later.

Lol i love fire extinguishers coz ya can get more than one shot from one fill

i made mi bro one LINK it turned out ok but i ended up scraping it coz i needed parts from it for other *ideas*.

nice job on it man but i'd watch the hose clamps, they tend to blow off easy and anything blowing off is bad so be safe.

well done on thought of the breech and mounting the whole lot on a "stock (of sorts)"

As much as I hate to admit it, I love guns that are made from next to nothing, shows resourcefulness.
I wouldn’t give him an honorary redneck award (the cannon shows he’s already a redneck); just the honorary member of the A-team award!

The 2x4 really sets a redneck theme for the rest of the gun though:)

I think the whole redneck stereotype doenst really apply to most anymore.
I'm a redneck. I couldnt even tell you how many junk cars are in my yard without looking out the window to count them first. (edit: 9. 3 actually run)
But that doesnt mean I dont know how to use a computer/ make flash anims/ sort of prog c++. Rednecks can be as sensible as everyone else.
